Gender is used for spouse stars (Wealth for men, Authority for women). Hour of birth adds the fourth pillar; leave it as "I don't know" if unsure.
How this is calculated
Day Master relation
Each person's Day Master element either feeds, controls, is fed by, is controlled by, or matches the other's. Feeding pairs support; controlling pairs structure; same-element pairs understand and compete.
Spouse palace
The Day branch is the spouse palace. Six harmony and trinity pull two charts together; clash, harm and break push them apart in different ways.
Spouse stars
In classical BaZi a man's Wealth star and a woman's Authority star represent the partner. When the other person's Day Master is that star, the attraction is structural, not just situational.
Element complement
If one chart is missing an element the other has in abundance, the pair balances what each lacks. Not romantic, but it makes daily life smoother.
