Kua comes from your birth year (Li Chun cutoff) and gender; the house trigram from the door direction. The same input always gives the same result.
About the Kua number
East and West groups
Kua 1, 3, 4 and 9 form the East group; 2, 6, 7 and 8 the West group. Each group shares its four good directions, which is why some couples find one arrangement suits both.
What "facing" means
The direction your face points when you sit at a desk or stand at a stove. For the bed, it is the direction the crown of your head points while lying down.
Priority
You rarely get all four. Fix the desk first, then the bed, then the front door.
